ICONS MOVIE NEWS!
Did you hear? “Film rights to Margaret Stohl’s forthcoming ICONS, the first book in her new series (coming in May 2013), set in a haunting new world where four teens must piece together the mysteries of their pasts, in order to save the future, to Alcon Entertainment, in a pre-empt, by Sally Willcox at CAA, on behalf of Sarah Burnes at The Gernert Company.” -Publishers Marketplace
I know most of you probably already saw this, thanks to some well-played sleuthing from Variety – (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118057408) – and I’m sorry I couldn’t answer your many (many many many) questions about it earlier.
But now I can…
Yes, it’s true. My team – Sally Willcox at CAA and Sarah Burnes at The Gernert Company – just closed the deal that entrusts my new series, Icons, to Alcon. IE, the very same company who is making the Beautiful Creatures movie even as we speak.(Remember? Emma Thompson, Viola Davis, Jeremy Irons, Emmy Rossum, Alden Ehrenreich, Alice Englert, Thomas Mann, Zoey Deutch? Directed by Richard LaGravenese?)
That’s the one.
Why Alcon? We actually had quite a few options – all amazing, as far as I was concerned – but in my mind, you don’t mess with something that’s already working. Which is, for example, why I’m doing Icons, the book series, with my beloved Beautiful Creatures editor, Julie Scheina, at my Beautiful Creatures publishing house, Little Brown Books for Young Readers.
The same goes for Alcon: I trust these guys, I respect these guys, and – of course – I really like these guys. Most importantly, they really seem to love my new book. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.
I hope you wonderful readers will love Icons too – but you’ll have to wait until May! In the meantime, you’ll have Beautiful Redemption on October 23rd and the Beautiful Creatures Movie on February 13th to help pass the time.
It’s so exciting to finally share my happy news here! Because of course, none of this would be possible without YOU…
